Expanding Margaret Thatcher’s Legacy Through Lectures and Receptions

The Centre is keen to continue the success of its ad hoc lectures and receptions in order to raise the profile of both Margaret Thatcher’s work and legacy. Expanding the number of people involved with the Centre is an ongoing aim, and hosting events is seen as a vital way to achieve this.
These events provide numerous opportunities for the Centre to reach out to the next generation and provide both context and a counter-balance to current narratives that prevail in student politics. Fostering debate – inside and outside of academia – is critical, and the Centre wishes to ensure that understanding of Margaret Thatcher’s life, values and achievements is not lost.

Centennial Gala Dinner 2025
A truly iconic evening featuring Hollywood icons and political titans. Special guest speakers included Dame Joan Collins, Boris Johnson and Sir Mark Thatcher speaking for the first time to a public audience about his mother’s life, work and legacy.
A dedicated page to commemorate the evening is under construction.

Annual Academic Symposium 2025
This year’s academic symposium was held at Cambridge University, featuring a wide range of speakers spread across keynote addresses, question sessions and discussion panels.

The Inaugural Rule of Law Conference 2025
For Margaret Thatcher, the rule of law was of equal importance to freedom and democracy, and yet in Britain today, basic concepts such as natural justice, due process and innocence until proven guilty are no longer at the heart of a legal system that denies too many access to justice. Two-tier justice seems increasingly commonplace.
In partnership with and with the generous support of the Danube Institute and the International Reagan-Thatcher Society, this first event in the series will focus on the growth in powers of the state and regulators, and a discussion around how together, we will work to reshape policy in this most critical of fields through a series of keynote addresses and panel discussions led by leading jurists, academics, politicians, practitioners and opinion formers.

The Second Annual Freedom Festival 2024
Following the great success of The Inaugural Margaret Thatcher Centre Freedom Festival in 2023, we were very excited to hold the two-day event again in March 2024.
The Festival runs in partnership with the University of Buckingham and its network with other organisations that share the Centre’s values. The two-day conference presents a further opportunity to combine educational activities with practical insights during a full-day conference followed by a gala dinner.
The Freedom Festival welcomes a host of modern-day influencers offering fresh perspectives to students and others eager to understand more about the life, values, and achievements of Margaret Thatcher. An emphasis on entrepreneurialism encourages the audience to learn from the established entrepreneurs leading the talks.

The Seventh Ronald Reagan Lecture & Reception
Honouring the alliance and friendship between Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan, the Reagan lectures allow the Margaret Thatcher Centre to introduce their shared values and beliefs to a new generation of people.
Those who attend these events hear from speakers at the forefront of international affairs and reflect on how the alliance can be strengthened in the years ahead.
Opportunities to sponsor these events are numerous and include the lectures themselves. If you are interested in promoting transatlantic relations, this is the sponsorship opportunity for you.

The Eighth Annual Margaret Thatcher Centre Lecture & Gala Dinner
The Annual Gala dinner has been a core event in the Margaret Thatcher Centre’s calendar.
With this being one of the most high-profile events in Westminster, the Centre is looking for extra funds in order to ensure it reaches its potential and has maximum impact in teaching future generations about the life, values and achievements of Margaret Thatcher. As such, we invite you to consider sponsoring the event. We have a variety of sponsorship opportunities available including but not limited to pre and post-dinner drinks receptions, tables and student places.
